Inter-Area Cross Country

The dates and venues for this year’s races are as follows:

Penn Area: Monday 11th March at Highfields

Tettenhall Area: Tuesday 12th March at Tettenhall College

Bilston Area:  Tuesday 12th March at Bilston CE Primary School

Bushbury/Wednesfield:  Wednesday 13th March at Fordhouses Cricket Club

City Final: Aldersley on Wednesday 20th March

Each race is approximately, but not more than, 1 mile

While the races are primarily aimed at years 5 & 6 children, there is no restriction on younger children taking part.

There is a team competition based on the first 4 finishers from each school but there is no limit on the number of children taking part. For organisational purposes, however, including parking, it is helpful to know roughly how many children each school is bringing.

Races are organised in cooperation with Wolverhampton and Bilston Athletic Club and supervised by nationally qualified UK Athletics officials. Each venue will have its own risk assessment.

Schools taking part in these races will automatically be entered into the city finals at Aldersley on Wednesday March 29th.

Wolverhampton was a forerunner in establishing x-country as an activity appropriate for primary aged children and in the past over 50 schools regularly took part. At a time when there is growing concern for the mental and physical health of our children, this is one way of helping them to become more active.   Furthermore these events are also a great way of bringing communities together from all over the city.

Entries are now open. Please use the link at the top of the page.
